(Lansing, Mich.) — Michigan Catholic Conference’s (MCC) Director of Communications, David Maluchnik, has been promoted to Vice President of Communications.

Since 2003, Maluchnik has managed the communications work of the Conference, expertly presenting the advocacy positions of the Catholic bishops in Michigan to the news media. In addition to coordinating news releases, press conferences, and advocacy communications, he serves as the editor of FOCUS, a periodic essay publication on current issues, and manages a team of web/graphic design and social media staff. His critical and strategic thinking have helped guide MCC through the digital age.

As the Vice President of Communications, Maluchnik will also oversee the Information Technology Department, which provides technology support to employees, administers systems that foster greater cohesiveness, and improves efficiency and productivity in support of the organization’s mission.

Maluchnik holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Before coming to the Conference in 2003 as the Associate for Communications, he served as the Media and Communications Specialist for the Michigan Senate.

“Dave serves the Michigan Catholic Conference each day with the utmost integrity and professionalism,” said MCC President and CEO Paul A. Long. “His ability to think creatively to solve problems, to understand and effectively communicate the mission of MCC, and to work collaboratively with others make him an asset to the Conference and our leadership team. Our organization is thankful for his hard work and service for over a decade, and I look forward to the critical role he will play in the organization’s administration through this new position.”

Michigan Catholic Conference is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in this state.
